Halloween 2009
-
First I want to say that we have been blessed with family and friends that help make this a big success every year. This year would have to be classified as one of our biggest years yet. Based on the amount of candy we handed out, we estimate 1800 "Trick or Treaters" this year. Earlier in the week, it was looking like it was going to be a rainy night but our prayers were answered and the rain moved out on Friday afternoon. There were seven live characters this year which surprised everyone that has visited us before when we only had two to three live characters. One of the big changes this year was that we moved the Cemetery entrance. In the past, we had the entrance in line with the front door. With the change this year, people were able to experience walking through a haunted cemetery while making their way to the front door. This gave the live characters more time to do what they do best.
Be sure to come out and see us for Halloween night 2010.
We look forward to scaring you again! Be sure you check out the pictures from 2009 while your here. Just click the Halloween link above.

- For our followers, we added two more homes this year. The light count for our home was around 30,000 lights this year. The other three homes ranged between 3,000 and 8,000 lights each. We visited with people nightly and gave out 12,000 candy canes this year. We will be adding more for 2010 so keep checking back for updates.
Make A Child Smile and Arkansas Childrens Hospital Christmas Drive Update
Thank you to everyone that donated to the '2009' Christmas drive. We collected over $3000 in cash donations along with toys, clothes, and coats.
- For ' Make A Child Smile', we donated
$1500 in cash donations (including the anonymous $500 donation) along with toys, clothes, and coats.
- For 'Arkansas Childrens Hospital, we donated over $1400 in new electronics and board games for the kids playroom on 3D. We also donated $200 in toys to the 'Treatment Closet'. For those that don't know, the treatment closet is used to reward the kids that have to sit through chemotherapy treatments. Once they complete their treatment, they get to go and pick a toy from the closet.
- Special thanks to Best Buy of Conway for donating the Wii Console for the playroom, to Kelly Beard from Best Buy for working with us to allow us to maximize our purchase and to Jessica Long from Best Buy for helping us pick the right games for the playroom.
Closing Note:
During the closing notes from our 2008 season, I told you about the Lewis family and how their little boy Adam was receiving treatments at Arkansas Childrens Hospital. They used our display to have something to do as a family without the risk of Adam getting sicker. During the 2009 light display, not only were we visited several times by the Lewis family, but we were also visited by several other families that had children taking treatments at Arkansas Childrens Hospital. It was the best feeling in the world knowing that our display was giving so many children something safe to do with their families.
I'm happy to say that little Adam is doing well. Feel free to visit Adam's Caring Bridge site at

On a final note, we want to tell everyone that visited us this year, Thank You for helping make this year a big success. We had the pleasure of meeting people that came from more than 100 miles away just to see our display this year. When we asked them how they heard about us, the response was that they either had kids in college here in Conway or they read about us on Facebook. Although some nights were very busy and we didnt get to meet everyone, we enjoyed visiting with those we did meet. We look forward to seeing you during the 2010 Halloween and Christmas season..
